Maria Isabella Müller (Sturm), born 1993 in Ellwangen (Germany), started her musical career with a degree in euphonium at the Lucerne School of Music (of the Lucerne University of Applied Arts and Sciences) with Thomas Rüedi. In 2016, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a profile in classics. For the subsequent master’s degree, she specialized in secondary music education conducting and completed her master’s degree in secondary music education with honors. From 2014-2021 she was a member of the folk music trio “Almdudler unplugged” (baritone & vocals). From 2020-2022 Maria Sturm worked as a teacher for brass instruments & music theory at a music school.
In February 2023, Maria received 1st prize in the International Composition Competition for Euphonium & Piano of the International Tuba and Euphonium Association ITEA. She is currently working as a music teacher in secondary music education as well as conductor, arranger & composer. Maria’s arrangements and new compositions for euphonium & piano are an integral part of the BrassTrail repertoire. She plays in a duo with Maria-Pilar Pereira (piano). She plays a Besson Sovereign 967T Euphonium and a Melton MAT24 Tenorhorn.
